Youth Education Programs Expand with New Cultural Learning Opportunities
The Sauk-Suiattle Education Department is launching expanded programming designed to support student success while strengthening connections to tribal culture and heritage.
New initiatives include after-school tutoring, cultural education workshops, college preparation courses, and traditional skills training. Programs are open to all tribal youth from elementary through high school age.
"Education remains one of our most important investments in the future," said Education Director Maria Thompson. "By combining academic support with cultural learning, we're helping our young people succeed in both worlds."
The cultural education component will feature traditional language classes, basket weaving, traditional foods preparation, and storytelling sessions led by tribal elders. Academic support includes homework help, SAT/ACT prep, and scholarship application assistance.
Families interested in enrolling students can contact the Education Department. Transportation and meals will be provided for all program participants. Registration is now open for the spring and summer sessions.
